Orange Blossom

Orange blossoms have been used in infusions, topical preparations and cooking since ancient times.

In spring the blossoms of fruit trees are a welcome sight and herald the fruit to come late in the summer and into the autumn.

Citrus aurantium flos

Parts used medicinally: Flower

Orange trees originate from Asia but are cultivated in many places across the globe. In France, orange flower water is said to have been used by Marie Antoinette in her beauty regime. It flavoured many dishes in those times including madeleines and was used to scent the linen of the nobility.

In the Southern Mediterranean, the blossom of the sweet orange tree is a familiar sight and gives arguably one of the most deliciously fragrant scents. Orange blossoms have been used in infusions, topical preparations and cooking since ancient times.
